1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
